About the equipment – guided tour Halden Canal
Not at Halden Canal, but we have two double kayaks at Vansjø. Se the menu.
Each kayak has room for one person. Most children over 6 years old are able to paddle on their own, but some may be more interested in looking at water lilies than paddling, so it’s a good idea to bring a rope in case you need to tow the child for a while.
Our kayaks are unfortunately not suitable for dogs.
We have tried over fifty different kayaks, and we have had about ten different brands in our fleet. We are so satisfied with the Oru Beach LT that all of our kayaks are now of this brand. Oru Beach LT is a great engineering feat, given that they are both stable and wide, have good propulsion, and maintain course. In addition, they are lightweight and foldable. This makes the bus ride back a breeze.
We have many different sizes of vests, from 15 kilos and up to 90+. The vest, paddle, and map are always included.
We do not have spray skirts at the moment. It is not common to use them here as it is wave-free. The paddle oars have rings that prevent most drops.
The kayak has plenty of storage space, enough for a day trip or an overnight trip. There is storage space both in the front and back of the kayak.
No, these kayaks are very easy to paddle and in combination with little wind, a rudder is not necessary.
All activities involve some level of risk. The common risks associated with kayaking include encountering boats and ships, waves, and strong winds. However, in this area, there are no boats, no waves, and the conditions are simple. Capsizing is rare, but if it were to happen, one can easily slide out of these kayaks. It is important that anyone who kayaks does so while sober. To increase safety, it is recommended to kayak with one or more companions. Being able to swim also enhances safety.
